Hello Rosary Makers,

Just stopping by to say Hi, noticing the message boards have not been active in some time. If you'd care to share a little about yourself, making rosaries, or operating a rosary business, this is the place. We'd love to learn a little about our members.

Take care and God bless,  - MaryT

Seems like the forum was more active with the MSN group.

Hi Ray, Nice to hear from you. Yes, our old boards were certainly more active. Its been hard regaining the ground we lost when we had to switch over from MSN. But we sure don't miss all the glitches : )

We just hope  members are busy making rosaries and that's what keeps them away from the boards.

Take care and God bless! - Mary

Hello,

I recently started working at a Catholica book store.  Since then have been able to repair about 30 Rosaries for people.  My co-workers have said that they have never seen so many people bringing Rosaries in for repairs, I'm just glad the I am able to help people bring use back into their old broken Rosaries for little or no cost.

Hi Shad,

Now I know why we're not seling any...they are all coming to you to have their old rosaries repaired.  LOL

Rosary making / repairing is such a fine occupation, don't you agree? We recently repaired 2 rosaries for owners who had lost all hope of finding a match for the mssing beads. What a wonderful feeling to be able to fix those rosaries for them!

Thanks for sharing with us about your special skill.

Take care and God bless,  - MaryT

I do feel a little bit of remorse in taking your customers, but it did feel nice to be able to repair a rosary for a woman from the Alaskan wilderness that just happened to come into my store.  I love my hobby!

Now Shad, is your store IN the Alaskan Wilderness?? I would imagine there is a great shortage of rosary artisans there! You never know where a customer will turn up!

No, sadly I don't live in the Alaskan wilderness.  The store I work at is in Eastern Washington.

I used to live in Spokane. With the winters there, it seemed like the Alaskan wilderness!

Hello,

I am a newer member and did not experience the MSN boards, however since October is the month of Mary and the Rosary I am busy making as many rosaries as I can for use in my parish. I hope to become more active.

Deborah, Hello and Welcome! Thanks for stopping by. We have been unusually busy this month also, which is always encouraging when more and more requests for rosaries keep coming in. October hopefully can bring only more!

God bless you and your work as a rosary maker!  - MaryT

Hello Robert! Thanks for joining us and for your kind words. We visited your blogsite and found your rosaries to be some of the most extraordinarily beautiful we have ever seen. Such work must go into them. Their beauty surely reflects your love for our Blessed Mother. We would love to have you share some pictures here.

God bless you,  - Mary, moderator

Attended the Rings & Things bead show yesterday (1 May 10) in Grand Rapids.  Brought home a few items,

Hemimorphite

Green Kyanite

Amazonite

An interesting strand of Yellow Tiger Eye- The beads were all cut in swirls.

Couple bags of Swarovski 4mm bicone

Quite a few strands of sterling- spacers small bead connectors, etc.

For it being my first bead show- I didn't go crazy and over react.

Very Interesting- The best part of it was the fact that they had 5-20 strands of the same stone- therefore you could pick through them to find the best strand.

Cheers!  Bob

Greetings! Saint of the Week: A Saint is often an ordinary person who has lived an extraordinary life of virtue and faith.  As Catholics we should use these exemplars to inspire us in our daily lives.  St. Pius V (1504 - 1572)

Michael Ghisleriwas born in Bosco, Italy in 1504.  The experience of poverty was prevalent throughout his childhood, so he had little schooling and had to tend sheep with his father.  His early virtue and quick mind attracted attention and he entered a Dominican school at an early age. By the time he turned fourteen, he entered the order and would later be ordained a priest.  He lectured and taught, was elected prior of anumber of Dominican houses and was known for his personal discipline and purity.  This was a time of conflict and heresy and he wasappointed inquisitor in Como, Italy.  His great zeal and courageattracted similar positions in Milan and Lombardy and he would later become Inquisitor General.  In this role, he even challenged the Pope who had appointed him.  When Pius IV died, he was elected Pope and took the name Pius V.  He combated heresy, excommunicated Queen Elizabeth I of England, visited the sick and helped the poor and suffering.   He played an important role in standardizing Church worship, enforcing the decisions of the Council of Trent and publishing a standard Catechism. One of his most important achievements was in organizing a Christian fleet which defeated the Turks at Lepanto.   He credited the intercession of the Virgin Mary and instituted the Feast of the Holy Rosary to commemorate the victory.

This week pray a Rosary in his honor, his feast day is April 30th.

I have wonderful news.

The Mother Teresa stamp is coming!

Over 138,000 friends of CatholicVote.org joined together to defend the stamp to honor Mother Teresa. And the Postal Service took notice.

Roy Betts, a spokesman for the Postal Service, told CatholicVote.org yesterday:

“The stamp will be dedicated September 5 [at] the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. Feel free to post information about the stamp, the image and the dedication ceremony on your website. Thanks!”
