I came across an interesting bit of information online in which someone had remarked about the beads used for the habit rosaries for the Daughters of Charity. A poster suggested that soapberries were used. I found what I thought to be the only source for these beads that I am passing along.
They aren't cheap, but they would make an interesting rosary. In my recent travel home to Washington State I discovered what I also believe are soapberry beads at Unique Beads in Olympia 360-628-8923. Yet another source I came across is a website called Candle on the Hill, however these are not drilled and are sold for their primary use in doing laundry.
Also found an interesting site for beads from Africa made of natural elements. I'll try to find that link and pass along. Have a blessed day, Sr. Rosaire

These "soapbeads" are very interesting. I have never heard of them before. Thank you for the education. | |
