A Thanksgiving thought for the blessings we have received through the gift of the Rosary and the power of prayer.
Our Thanksgiving custom of celebrating the gifts we have received from God began in the Plymouth colony in 1621. Thanksgiving is not an official Church holiday or holy day, but it embraces the Christian ideals of prayer, blessings and thanksgiving. It gives us a wonderful way to express our gratefulness for all we have received and the people who are so important in our lives. It allows us to acknowledge the power of the Holy Trinity and the Blessed Mother. As Rosary Makers, we may also acknowledge the wonderful gift of the Rosary and the promises given to us from the Blessed Mother. Pope John Paul II recognized the importance of the Rosary in his Rosarium Virginis Mariae. He said it was a simple and profound prayer of great significance. And in the spirit of Thanksgiving, it brings forth a harvest of holiness. It captures the essence of the Gospel message and allows us to sit in the school of Mary. Let us ponder the gift of prayer and the promises given by the Virgin Mother herself to those who say the Rosary faithfully. This Thanksgiving weekend presents us with a special opportunity to renew our faith through prayer. Let us capture the spirit of Thanksgiving by saying a Rosary for the Mystery of the Faith and the Power of the Rosary. It is a simple yet profound Prayer. The Rosary is one of the great blessings given to the faithful so let us also pray that this gift of faith be shared throughout the world.
