Hello all,

I am having trouble with some Our Father beads.  I would like to wrap some wire around them, but they are rectangular.  Any suggestions?

Hi Shad,

Hopefully Robert may be able to help with this as his wire-wrap technique is just outstanding.

Perhaps a video HERE on youtube may be helpful.

Let us know how you do!

Shad- I also watched the video that Mary provided and it is a very unique and nice wrap.

Obviously there are numerous ways to wrap square, rectangular or flat oval beads often called "coin" beads.

A flat rectangular bead like in the video:

Wire:  make your first loop, double wrap and cut off remainder.  Slide bead on - down to the bottom. Bend the wire over and make your other loop at the other end.  Now - as you look at the wrapped bead- you have a left side of the loop and a right side of the loop. Hold the bead so your remaining piece of wireis at the bottom loop coming up the right side of the loop.  Now- simply take the wire to the right side of the upper loop and wrap.  Snip off the end.

Or: Hold the bead so your remaining piece of wireis at the bottom loop coming up the right side of the loop. Now take the wire up the left side of the upper loop - wrap and cut. This is a little fancier as it adds an angle to the wrap.

Or: Hold the bead so your remaining piece of wireis at the bottom loop coming up the right side of the loop. Now take the remaining piece of wire and wrap it around the back of the bead- coming up on the right side of the upper loop. Wrap and cut. This provides a swirl look to your wrapped bead.

Shad- I don't know if this makes any sense to you or not- it is difficult to try and explain wraps.  If it will help- I'll wrap a few beads in the styles I mentioned and post a few photos if necessary.

Good luck- Let us know how it works for you.

Peace and Blessings, Bob

I've already competed half of the rosary with the video instructions.  Robert, I might just try and wrap a few as you described to see if it looks better. I'll let you know if I have any success following your written instructions!
