Dear Rosary Apostolate, I am Sr. Mary Michael Okafor. I am a Nigerian. I belong to the Congregation of the Holy Family Sisters of the Needy, founded in Nigeria. I am visiting my sisters here in the United Ststes for two months. I write to request for cord rosaries for the many catholics I encounter on daily basis in Nigeria, who are practical catholics but do not have rosaries to say their prayers. Most of these are block rosary society chilren from poor families. Any amount you can afford to give me will be given freely to these people who need them. I will be returning to Nigeria at the end of July 2010. Thank you so much for considering my request. The prayer of the rosary is one the greatest treasures we have as Catholics, unfortunately, majority of our members have lost or are losing sight of this great wealth. We continue to pray that all the Catholics will return to this noble tradition. I say at least 20 decades of the rosary each day and whenever I tell people what our Blessed Mother has done for me through the Rosary, it sounds like an exaggeration, and in fact, I don’t say all because only those who experience the same in one way or the other can believe. I have the interest of providing rosary for people who would like to have one, especially children belonging to Block-Rosary society. I was one of them when I was little. In those days my family was very poor. I lost my dad when I was eleven months and my mother did have the money to buy me a rosary. I was counting the Hail Mary with my fingers until when I made my first communion and my mother bought me a cord rosary as a special gift. So I still meet many children in my country who pray the rosary with their fingers and for these I have always look for means of getting rosary for them. Thank you again for this wonderful apostolate. May our Blessed Mother continue to bless you and all those engaged in the same mission. God bless you. Sr. Mary Michael Okafor, HFSN | |
